Visit to
Denver
The Accessible Waterways
Association exists to raise
awareness of boaters and
other waterways users with
disabilities. Their main goals
are to campaign to make
the UK waterways as
accessible as possible for all,
and to be a hub of information
for all who need to 昀椀nd out
about the accessibility of the
UK’s waterways.
The Environment Agency wholly supports
the works that the Accessible Waterways
Association does to continually improve
services, allowing waterways to work for all.
In late summer 2024, the Environment Agency
invited Tracey (founder and chair) and Tim,
along with their trusty guide dog Loki and
hearing support dog Ozzie, to visit our Denver
Complex, situated just outside of Downham
Market, Norfolk. Our Denver Complex o昀昀ers
private moorings to customers, and it was
really important to us to get Tracey and Tim’s
opinion on the site, and to discuss further
ideas/improvements on how we can support
disabled customers going forward.
The day was an incredibly positive experience, both Tracey and Tim
were impressed and greatly encouraged by the Environment Agency’s
ideas and ambitions regarding accessibility.
Denver is an ideal site to pilot our ideas, as we continue to make further
developments to the area. We hope that once we have completed our
accessible amendments at Denver, that Tracey and Tim will come and
visit us again to be the 昀椀rst to give us a thumbs up!
Thank you so much for your time, support and engagement Tracey and
Tim, we look forward to continuing our work together in the future.
Do you have any ideas which you think could
improve the accessibility of our waterways?
