Riverviews - Anglian Waterways - Flipbook - Page 2
Background and introduction
Our precious waterways
are an important part of
our nation’s rich heritage
and beauty. They give
enjoyment to countless
people – not just to those
who navigate them but
also those who walk along
them, sit by them, fish on
them, cycle beside them
or simply enjoy being
near them. They are a
national treasure, valued
for their contribution to our
environment, our health
and wellbeing, and our
economy.
The Environment Agency is the Navigation
Authority for the Anglian Waterways
which covers more than 350 miles and is
made up of the rivers Ancholme, Black
Sluice, Great Ouse, Nene, Stour, Welland
and Glen and includes a vast system of
associated facilities such as bridges,
locks, marinas and moorings.
This Waterways information pack is
part funded through the Nenescape
partnership which is a National Lottery
Heritage funded collaborative project.
This element of the project has been
co-ordinated by; Destination Nene Valley,
Nene Park Trust, and the Environment
Agency.
