Enterprise & Marketing OCR
What we aim to achieve
It is a practical work-related course. You learn
by completing projects and assignments that are
based on realistic workplace situations so you can
demonstrate your knowledge and skills in workrelated scenarios. You will explore the world of
business in particular how to carry out market
research, plan a new product and pitch it to experts
and review if a business proposal is viable. This
qualification contains practical activities which
help to develop independence and confidence in
using skills relevant to the business and enterprise
sector.
Course outline
It is a practical course which develops skills and
knowledge in a practical way. You will cover three
topic areas that will help in a variety of careers:
• R067 – Enterprise and Marketing Concepts
Setting up and running a business enterprise is an
exciting challenge which lots of people embark on
every day. In this unit you will learn about the key
factors to consider and activities that need to
happen to operate a successful small start-up
business. This will be assessed through an exam
at the end of Year 11. It is worth 60% of your overall
grade.
• R069– Market and Pitch a Business Proposal
In this unit you will learn how to design a brand
which will make your product stand out in the
market and create a promotional campaign to get
your brand noticed by customers. You will then
need to create a presentation that you will pitch
to an audience. To help you prepare for this, you
will first practise in front of your peers, asking them
to review your presentation and feedback ways in
which you can improve it.
How will I be assessed?
• RO67 - by an exam at the end of Y11 and is worth
60% of your overall grade
• RO68 - by course work worth 20%
• RO69 - this will be assessed through course work
and your presentation skills and is worth 20%
What skills do I need?
You will need to be creative and come up with ideas
for your business and promoting. This involves
working in groups, but you will also need to work
independently. Around 40% of the assessment is
coursework, so you must be motivated to meet
deadlines. Some assessments require you to deliver
presentations or carry out role plays, so you need to
feel comfortable doing this.
• RO68 – Design a Business Proposal
Creating a new product is an exciting challenge.
You will need to make sure your product can make
a profit. To do this you have to develop a product
that meets customer needs but also stand out from
similar products that are on the market. This
unit will provide you with the skills and knowledge
to design a product proposal to meet a business
brief. This is worth 20% of your overall grade and is
assessed through course work.
