Course outline
The OCR GCSE Drama course offers a challenging and
stimulating environment in which to
study, where students are positively encouraged to
broaden their performance and group work skills, in a
safe and secure environment.
How will I be assessed?
The course has key areas of study in which you will develop
a range of acting and reflective evaluation skills.
These include:
• Creation and performance of a piece of devised
drama, including a written coursework log (30%)
• Study and performance of two extracts from a
scripted play text (30%)
• Written exam analysing and evaluating a set text
and a live theatrical performance (40%)
What skills do I need?
At the start of the Drama GCSE course you need nothing
other than the desire to further develop your performance
techniques and confidence, as well as a willingness to work
hard whilst doing so, in a group environment. You should
not choose Drama if you do not like performing, or are not
willing to develop your levels of confidence in this area.
