Workforce
Active Suffolk is the strategic lead for the physical activity and sport workforce in Suffolk. Developed in
2019, the workforce strategy aims to broaden the workforce enabling people in Suffolk to lead active
lives whilst ensuring it meets the needs of our local people.
This year’s successes include:
Supported the sector to
access £16,708 worth of
CIMSPA Retrain funding,
with 24 participants
completing training.

We launched the regional sector
skills pilot funded by Sport England &
The Chartered Institute for the
Management of Sport and Physical
Activity (CIMSPA)
We have formed a local
Club & Instructor Database
which contains 594 Suffolk
clubs & 366 instructors who
receive regular support from us
We created a Local Skills Advisory
Board with representatives from local
We supported 6
participants from the 2019
partners including: Further and Higher
Education, New Anglia Local Enterprise
Partnership, Suffolk County Council Skills
team, Leisure Operators and The
Department of Work and Pensions
Great East Run Outreach
programme to complete their
Safeguarding Training was
made available online
and accessible to all throughout the pandemic.
It has been a privilege to partner with such
an exceptional organisation. Active Suffolk
have and continue to be an integral
partner within the CIMSPA network as we
drive forwards in shaping a recognised
and respective Sport and Physical Activity
sector that everyone wants to be a part of.
We thank Active Suffolk for their continued
support, and we are committed to driving
this partnership from strength to strength
to bring benefit and opportunity to the
Suffolk region.
