Project testimonials
I was recently diagnosed with Type 2
Diabetes which is why I decided to come
along to the weekly table tennis sessions
as I was told physical activity may help to
manage the condition.
I hadn’t expected all the
additional benefits...
I have lived in this village for 30 years,
however it was only once I retired that
I realised I didn’t know anyone in the
community. Now when I go to the village
shop I actually know people and it’s
all thanks to this club. It makes such a
difference. It is such a friendly bunch here
and I am so glad this project exists!
Active Wellbeing
The Active Wellbeing service was delivered from the
Bildeston Health Centre in 2019, supporting patients
aged 55+ to be active. During the project period, the
team received an average of 3 referrals per week with
over 150 referrals being made in total to the service.

I found the consultations very helpful.
I’m sure I’m going to get a great deal
of benefit from all the suggestions,
and I’m looking forward to improving
my health situation soon. Many
Thanks again, for the inspiration
you’ve given me, to get to grips with
my situation
After working with
the patients for 3
months, 55% of
them reported to
have improved
wellbeing. In addition to these
benefits, 75% of clinical staff
attended the physical activity
training and 8 members of
staff from the Health Centre
even accessed the Active Living
Scheme themselves at their local
leisure centre.
The health centres passion
and drive to support positive
behaviour change also supported
them to be recognised nationally,
where they were one of the first
in the area to be awarded the
Active Practise status.
