INFO
In Autumn 2021 we collaborated with the Most Active County
Partnership, East Suffolk Council, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District
Council, West Suffolk Council and Abbeycroft Leisure to celebrate the
Women’s Cycle Tour which completed its final leg in Suffolk, by inviting
local primary schools to take part in a challenge designed by our
Children and Young People’s Team.
1,200
90
pupils across
Suffolk got
involved
hours of cycling
and scooting was
recorded!
Following the completion of the
challenge, Westfield
Primary, St Gregory Primary
and Grundisburgh Primary
were selected at random to
win a day of cycle coaching
for their school with former
BMX national champion,
John Stockwell.
We were delighted to collaborate with
Ipswich Borough Council, The Games
Organiser for Ipswich, Ipswich Town
Community Trust, Inspire Suffolk and
sports coaches from participating
primary schools to support the design
and delivery of the Primary School
Multi-skills Leadership and Physical
Activity programme.
Year 5 & 6 pupils in 28 schools across the Ipswich area
are accessing the leadership programme, where they are
trained to support the younger pupils in the school to
participate and improve upon a variety of activities such
as jumping, throwing and running.
The progress of the younger pupils is be recorded and
they will be challenged to improve their scores. The aim
is to involve 4,000 school pupils and 400 new Young
Leaders in the next year!
